What a fantastic turn-out! Insight's own Joe Konopacki spent some time at OPCAN's (Oak Park Climate Action Network) Clean Energy Open House over at Macey's place this past weekend!

The open house was part of OPCAN's tour showcasing fully electrified, vintage homes to show neighbors how they can power their properties cleaner, safer, cheaper, and greener. Visitors got a firsthand look at cool eco-friendly upgrades like heat pump HVAC systems, solar arrays, induction stoves, and learned all about local rebates, utility savings, and trusted contractors.
Great community, inspiring sustainability efforts, and plenty of good times were had by all. So glad Joe got to be part of the fun!

As the leaves start to turn, it's time to give your home a little fall TLC before winter sets in!

A quick home prep routine now can save you big headaches (and money) later. Here are a few quick tasks top-of-mind for the Insight Property Services team this season:

1) Clear Out the Gutters: Prevent water backup and ice dams by keeping gutters free of fallen leaves.
2) Disconnect Outdoor Hoses: Drain spigots and store hoses inside to avoid burst pipes when the first freeze hits.
3) Check Door & Window Seals: Swap out worn weatherstripping to keep heat in and drafty air out.
4) Test Heating & Safety Systems: Change furnace filters, test smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, and schedule your annual heating system check.
5) Inspect the Roof & Exterior: Take a walk around your home to spot missing shingles or small foundation gaps before snow covers them up.
6) Dust and then reverse ceiling fans: Cleaning them of dust is important when reversing the blades. Let's not forget that this is the time to reverse your ceiling fans also.

A little maintenance goes a long way toward keeping your home safe, efficient, and comfortable all winter long.
