There's still time to apply for NRCS cost-share funding for forest management plans, forest stand improvement (FSI), invasive species control, and other forestry practices!

Cost-share assistance can cover 75% to 90% of eligible costs!

Application deadline: November 13, 2026. These funding opportunities typically come around only once or twice a year, so now is the time to apply!

If you have kids that love the outdoors, this looks like a really neat opportunity.

The WVU Forestry & Wood Magic Summer Camp gives kids a chance to learn about forests, wildlife, trees, wood products, and natural resources through hands-on activities and outdoor experiences.

Thought I’d share for anyone looking for a good summer program.

Cruising timber today and had two coyotes walk right up on me while at a sample plot, one even stopped to mark its spot like I wasn’t there.

Always exciting to see them this close. With fawn season for whitetail and nesting season for turkeys around the corner, you know what they’re out looking for.

Silver lining, localized deer pressure is a big driver of forest regeneration, and in most cases fewer deer can help species like oak get established.

Part of the woods, whether you like them or not.
