🏡💰 BERKELEY COUNTY HOMEOWNERS — YOU MAY HAVE MONEY COMING BACK! 💰🏡

One of the many reasons I love living and working in Berkeley County is how great our county departments are to work with! They make it easy to get questions answered and issues resolved.

Here’s a little reminder that could put some extra money in your pocket just in time for Christmas! 🎄💵

If your home is your primary residence, take a minute to look at your property tax bill and make sure you’re being assessed at the 4% ratio instead of 6%!

If you purchased your home this year, or even in previous years, and never applied for the 4% assessment ratio, you could be paying significantly more in property taxes than necessary!

💡 DID YOU KNOW?

If you’ve been paying at the 6% assessment ratio when you qualified for 4%, Berkeley County may be able to correct your assessment and potentially refund taxes you’ve overpaid!

🏦 AND HERE’S THE REALLY GOOD PART!

If your property taxes are included in your monthly mortgage payment through an escrow account, you can work with the county to correct your assessment, then submit the corrected tax bill to your mortgage lender.

Depending on your escrow balance and your lender’s procedures, you may even receive an escrow refund!

🎁 And let’s face it… who wouldn’t love an unexpected refund right before Christmas?!

The application for the 4% assessment ratio is available online, or you can stop by the county office for assistance.

Take a minute and CHECK YOUR TAX BILL! It could be well worth your time!
