A piece of downtown West Palm Beach land for just $10?

The City Commission approved declaring a 10-foot-wide strip near Banyan Boulevard and N. Sapodilla Avenue surplus, clearing the way for a proposed transfer to Related Ross.

The reason? A planned 191-unit affordable housing development.

But there’s a catch: the agreement calls for a $100,000 payment if the developer fails to meet certain construction requirements.

The $10 conveyance still requires a separate agreement to return to the City Commission for approval.

Could West Palm Beach become home to a new presidential retreat?

A proposal involving Trump International Golf Club could turn part of the property into a permanent retreat for future U.S. presidents.

But there’s a real estate complication: Palm Beach County owns the land, and the golf club leases it.
