The typical home improvement project costs three-quarters more than it did 10 years ago, according to a new report from Lending Tree. The median cost of a home improvement project rose from $1,200 in 2015 to an inflation-adjusted $2,113 in 2025—a shocking 76% increase.

What's the situation with sales? 🏡 Median sale price posted healthy gains during the spring buying season, bolstered by buyers who were able to make interest rates in the 6% range work. But, that appears to be in the rearview now as higher rates tamper down buyer activity, alongside normal seasonal declines. Moderating prices will be welcome to buyers who can make the higher interest rates work, and sellers need to be motivated and willing to accept prices more in line with what we saw last fall. Of course, this is looking at all property types rolled together statewide – more nuance is found in individual markets and specific property types.
