⛈️ STORM DAMAGE? DON'T LET URGENCY MAKE THE DECISION FOR YOU!
With storms moving through the Valley today, I wanted to share some important information for homeowners.
When damage happens, it's natural to want everything fixed immediately. But don't let stress or desperation lead you into hiring the wrong company.
🏡 BEFORE HIRING ANY CONTRACTOR:
✅ Verify their license: Check the Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC) for licensing and complaint history.
✅ Research the company: Don't rely on one review site. Check multiple sources.
✅ Ask for proof of insurance.
✅ Get everything in writing: Understand the scope of work, costs, payment terms, and timeline.
✅ Watch for pressure tactics: Be cautious of anyone demanding immediate signatures or making promises that sound too good to be true.
📋 WHAT ABOUT YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY?
Your insurance carrier may recommend a contractor from its preferred vendor network. That can be a helpful option, but you generally have the right to choose your own qualified contractor.
Ask questions, understand your policy, and make sure you're comfortable with the company working on your home.
📖 AND PLEASE, READ YOUR INSURANCE POLICY!
The best time to understand your coverage is BEFORE a loss happens.
Know your deductibles, exclusions, coverage limits, and responsibilities as a homeowner. Don't wait until you're dealing with damage to find out what your policy does or doesn't cover.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: If your home has suffered damage, document it with photos, contact your insurance company promptly, and take safe, reasonable steps to prevent additional damage. Emergency mitigation shouldn't be delayed while researching companies.
Remember: The first company available isn't always the best company for the job.
Your home is one of your biggest investments. Protect it by making informed decisions!
