A coat of primer might seem like a small step, but at the old brick church in Uptown Memphis, it’s a visible sign of new life.

This church has stood vacant along one of the neighborhood’s main roads for years. Now, little by little, we’re bringing it back. Uptown has seen decades of disinvestment, and we hope this project helps build momentum for more care and investment throughout the community.

Progress is slow sometimes. Today, it looks like primer on old brick and the beginning of what comes next.

Framing has started on our 1-bedroom/1-bath Azalea duplex! These two-story units have living space on the first floor and the bedroom and bathroom on the second floor. Every unit at Belle|Mont will feature a front porch. For this unit, the front porch faces the interior community green space with a fire pit and bbq grill stations. Have a dog? The property is pet friendly and will have a small dog park. Belle|Mont opens May 2026.

The image above shows how incremental, in-fill development like Bellevue Montgomery can take a 2.5-acre parcel that has been vacant for 50+ years and turn it into an asset that addresses the needs of the neighborhood and the city.

Here’s why we think that Bellevue Montgomery is important for Memphis:

1. Missing Middle Housing – Memphis needs affordable workforce housing that is contextual to its surrounding neighborhood. To date, there have only been two projects that address this need at scale: Malone Park Commons and Bellevue Montgomery.

2. In-fill Development – Memphis needs more in-fill development to take advantage of existing infrastructure and community resources like public transportation and commercial anchors. Bellevue Montgomery is located 3 blocks south of Crosstown Concourse and the new proposed Crosstown Live Nation music venue.

3. Community-based Investment – Memphis needs to expand real estate investment opportunities to more investors including those who live in the neighborhoods where developments are proposed. This creates an engaged community and developers who are tuned in to the needs of their future neighbors. Crowdfunding not only democratizes real estate investment, but it creates a path for other aspiring and emerging developers to raise money outside of the normal channels.
