Housing Forward had the honor of being part of the 80th birthday celebration for the late John Prine, a Maywood native and folk music icon. Part of the celebration included trolley and walking tours of Maywood, starting at Maywood Fine Arts. Inspired by John's time as a USPS letter carrier, we collected letters and donated winter accessories to our clients.

Thank you so much to the The Hello in There Foundation for including us in the celebration! A special thank you to all of the John Prine fans who filled our mailbox and donation bin with letters and winter accessories in his honor 💌

Big news! Renovations have begun on The Oak Inn, the new home to our Interim Housing and RISE Medical Respite Programs. The project will re-imagine the 100-year-old former Write Inn Hotel, expanding access to shelter, recuperative care, and supportive services.

We’re so proud of our 13 runners taking on the 2026 Bank of America Chicago Marathon in support of Housing Forward! On Friday, we hosted a pasta dinner for the runners and their families to connect prior to race day.
Thank you to each of our incredible runners for going the extra mile to support our work to end homelessness. Your dedication and generosity make a real difference in the lives of our neighbors. We’ll be cheering you on every step of the way!

Access to mental health care, a safe place to rest and recover, and the stability needed to focus on well-being are essential for those experiencing mental illness. For people also facing a housing crisis, these resources can be difficult to access, making it even harder to prioritize their mental health.

Everyone deserves the chance to prioritize their mental health in a stable environment. Addressing housing insecurity is key to making mental health care accessible for all.
