Got a report date coming up? Here's a realistic look at how fast you can close on a VA loan. ⏱️🇺🇸
A typical VA purchase closes in about 30 to 45 days after you sign the contract. Some are faster, some take longer.
What keeps it on track:
✅ Pick a VA-experienced lender and get pre-approved before you shop
✅ Gather your documents (pay stubs, orders, bank statements) so you can reply fast
✅ Choose a well-maintained home that's less likely to need repairs for the VA appraisal
✅ Skip new debt or big purchases until after closing
The #1 cause of delays? Slow replies to the lender's requests. A low appraisal, unfinished repairs, and busy holiday schedules can add time too.
My tip: start 60 to 90 days before you need to be in the home. As your agent, I'll build your timeline backward from your report date and check in at every step.
