And just like that we have another 🎉

So excited for CJ to start his homeownership journey and thankful to have been asked to help in the journey. When he knew - he knew! And the first house we saw - he knew, he kept coming back to it! In a super unfortunate circumstance, though, it wasn't mean to be. But as soon as we saw this one, he knew! Lightning⚡️can strike twice, lol. And even though, there were mutliple offers, we talked through a winning strategy to make sure this time, this would be THE ONE!

Die with Zero

Why do we work? Mostly to make money, to buy the things to live. So how much money do we need to make to ENJOY our lives?

Perkins's premise is that we should make and spend our money at appropriate times to maximize positive life experiences. Basically, he is in line with the "I can make more money later, but I can take these trips/make these memories later" cultural viewpoint/shift. The idea: I am young once, my kids are young once, we can only have THIS experience NOW. Taking your kids to Disney at 25 = still fun, totally not the same as when they are 5... That Perkins's main point throughout the book. Perkins's goal is to die with no money - that he will make and spend appropriately at each age to enjoy the money he has earned THROUGHOUT his life, not just at the end.

Overall, I don't disagree with Perkins's main points. I might suggest going anout it slightly differently? Or maybe have several actual suggestions for various socioeconomic levels. There is where this book becomes just 200 pages of repetition for me. It's all "you should do this" and little to no HOW to do this. Because if you're living paycheck to paycheck, barely covering the bills, then how do you maximize your life experiences? (Not all experiences have to cost money... some you just need time.) And if you're thinking, well, I want to donate to causes! Perkins says do it now, while you're living - you don't have to wait until you're dead 😉

I think there is already a cultural shift in this direction, so right in line with that - if you agree, might be worth picking up! Definitely a few interesting nuggets throughout to make you think about how to enjoy your life in EVERY season, not just retirement.

Women, Money, Power

I feel like most of us know the great lengths, fight, and dedication of women of the past to help women be able to achieve more, have more, be more. Cox provides a history from WWII to now (2024) about "the rise and fall of economic equality". Cox wanted to explore not just the changes women have experienced over the last 80 years, but specifically the economic changes - making money, rising to power, and the challenges, changes, and work to still be done in this arena.

Cox shares this following an historical timeline, which is nice to follow, mostly chronological except within chapters some small back and forth, but each chapter mostly focused on a decade or two. I found some of the ladies featured quite interesting , several (almost all actually) ones that have probably never been spotlighted before in the history of women's lib. Overall, interesting information on how women got to be where they are, but how so much still to do for women to gain economic equity.

We finallllllllly made it!! Whew.

This one sure had its moments, but buyers, seller, agents, lender - we all worked together, persevered, and got this one SOLD 🏡🎉

I'm so happy for my buyers - we met at another listing of mine, and they were hesitant to work with anyone specific, but I think I showed them how valuable an agent could be 🥰 I offered several suggestions while we were still house shopping and then helped a lot to get this one done. Not many people see the behind the scenes of what we sometimes go through - and let me tell you some of the hoops on this one were absolutely exhausting (and a little expensive 😳). But both the other agent and I did what we had to do to make sure my buyers (and the seller) made it to today! So grateful we made it.

Shout out to Bethany on the listing side for being great to work with, Nicki Smith on the lending getting a fabulous rate even with delays, and Midland for making closing painless as alwsys!!
