Today, on World Homeless Day, we pause to recognize something that is about so much more than a lack of housing.

It is about mothers trying to keep their children safe.
It is about women rebuilding their lives after difficult circumstances.
It is about families searching for stability, dignity, and a place to call home.

At Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women & Children, we believe every woman and every child deserves more than a roof over their head. They deserve safety. They deserve compassion. They deserve to be treated with dignity. And they deserve the opportunity to build a brighter future.

Every day, we have the privilege of walking alongside women and children as they take steps toward stability and independence. Sometimes that means providing a safe place to stay. Sometimes it means a warm meal, a listening ear, assistance navigating resources, or simply reminding someone that they are not alone.

Because a home is more than four walls.

It is a place where a child can feel safe.
It is a place where a mother can breathe.
It is a place where hope can begin again.

Today, we honor the women and children we serve, celebrate their strength and resilience, and thank everyone who helps make this work possible.

Together, we can help create a community where every woman and child has the opportunity to find safety, stability, and a place to call home.

Life can feel overwhelming, especially during times of loss, uncertainty, or hardship, but no one should have to face those moments alone.

Today, take a moment to check in on someone you care about. Listen without judgment. Reach out. Remind them that they matter.

And if youโ€™re struggling, please know that help is available.

๐Ÿ“ž Call or text 988 to connect with the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline; free, confidential support available 24/7.

๐Ÿ’š You matter. You are not alone. Hope is possible.

๐Ÿ’œ Learning never stops when it comes to supporting our community.

A big congratulations to our team members, Monica and Oliver, for completing the 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training through Haven Hills!

This intensive training gave them valuable tools to better support survivors of domestic violence with a trauma-informed, survivor-centered approach. They learned how to recognize signs of abuse in both adults and children, create safety plans, respond with compassion, protect confidentiality, and connect survivors with life-changing resources.

Every training like this helps us strengthen the support we provide to the women and families who turn to Good Shepherd Center during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

We're so proud of Monica and Oliver for investing in their growth, and in the well-being of our community. ๐Ÿ’œ

Please join us in congratulating them on this incredible accomplishment!
