September is REALTOR® Safety Month
The work REALTORS® do often puts us in situations that call for a heightened level of awareness — meeting new people, showing vacant properties, hosting open houses, working after hours, and traveling through unfamiliar areas.
This month, LASAOR encourages every member to take a fresh look at the safety practices built into their daily business.
Know who you are meeting. Let someone know where you are going. Stay aware of your surroundings. Have a plan for leaving quickly if a situation feels uncomfortable. And most importantly, give yourself permission to walk away when something doesn't feel right.
Safety extends to how we serve our clients, too. Thoughtful preparation protects buyers, sellers, tenants, landlords, and everyone else involved in a transaction.
A successful appointment is never more important than getting home safely.
Throughout September, take time to review your personal safety procedures, talk them through with your team or brokerage, and make sure your habits reflect the risks that come with working in the field.
LASAOR encourages all members to make REALTOR® safety a year-round business practice.
