Tried to buy our quarterback dessert… turns out he already had the same thing I was eating. 😂🍪

EmG and I had a chance to meet LaNorris Sellers the day after our Florida win! — A great little moment together and a photo we’ll always keep. 🤙❤️

Today we’re heading to Williams-Brice, hoping to bring some of those good vibes with us!

From our family at Benjamin Insulation and Crawlspace: we’re cheering for Sellers and the whole Gamecock team. Let’s get that W! 🐓🏈

Who else is heading to the game today?

Another crawlspace transformation in Batesburg-Leesville! 🏠✨

We finished this encapsulation last week with a 20 mil ground liner, insulated crawlspace walls, mold treatment, and an AprilAire E070W WiFi controlled dehumidifier with a condensate pump. Take a look at the finished space! 👀

🔥🏠 COLUMBIA / LEXINGTON – SUMMER HEAT IS COMING

People are just now turning their A/C on…

But here’s what most don’t realize 👇

👉 That attic heat isn’t going up…
It’s pushing down into your home.

And if your insulation isn’t right, your A/C is about to fight a losing battle.

⸻

☀️ ATTIC ISSUES

• Attics hitting 120°–140°
• Heat pushing into the living space
• Old or settled insulation = constant heat gain
• System runs longer, bills go up

⸻

💧 CRAWLSPACE ISSUES

• Moisture rising from the ground
• Humidity getting pulled into your home
• Musty air, uncomfortable floors
• Mold / organic growth risk

⸻

💥 WHY THIS MATTERS RIGHT NOW

Right now it’s manageable…

But give it a few weeks of real heat and you’ll notice:
👉 Hot rooms upstairs
👉 High power bills
👉 Humidity you can feel

⸻

✅ WHAT WE DO (DONE RIGHT)

✔️ R38+ blown attic insulation
✔️ Problem areas addressed as needed
✔️ 12mil+ crawlspace encapsulation
✔️ Sealed vents + moisture control
✔️ Dehumidifier options

Big shoutout to Peter with Liberty Containers of the Midlands / Junk King Columbia SC 👊

I texted him at 9AM this morning about a dumpster for an attic insulation removal job… and it was on-site within a couple hours. That kind of responsiveness is hard to find these days.

This is exactly why I work with people who take their business seriously — it helps me take better care of my customers.

Spring means AC season is starting in the Midlands. 🌞

Right now it may only be around 80°F outside, but on sunny days your attic can already reach 95–105°F.

That hot attic sits directly above your ceiling.

When attic insulation is low or old:

• Heat transfers into the house faster
• Your AC runs longer to remove it
• Some rooms struggle to stay cool
• Energy bills start climbing before summer even arrives

Most homes I inspect around Irmo, Lexington, Chapin, and Columbia are still well below the recommended R-38 attic insulation level.

Early spring is actually one of the best times to address attic insulation before the real heat of July and August arrives.

Your House Is Fighting From The Top… and The Bottom.

This illustration shows what I see every week here around Lexington, Irmo, Chapin & Columbia.

🔺 Attic Issues
• Heat blasting into under-insulated fiberglass
• Air leaks around lights & penetrations
• HVAC working overtime
• Energy dollars literally rising through the roof

🔻 Crawlspace Issues
• Ground moisture rising into the structure
• Open vents pulling in humid South Carolina air
• Wet wood + condensation
• Thin plastic not fully covering the ground and/or already dry rotted doing nothing long-term

Most homes don’t have a roof problem or a floor problem…

They have a building envelope problem.

If the attic isn’t air sealed and insulated properly — and the crawlspace isn’t truly encapsulated (12mil+ liner, sealed seams, proper dehumidification) — your HVAC will constantly fight physics.

And physics always wins.

If your floors feel damp…
If certain rooms won’t hold temperature…
If your unit runs nonstop in summer…

This is why.

🌸 SPRING IS COMING… IS YOUR HOME READY? 🌸

Attic Insulation + Crawlspace Encapsulation | Lexington / Columbia SC

Winter exposed the weak spots.
Summer humidity is next. ☀️💧

If your home has:
• Uneven temperatures
• High power bills
• Musty smells
• Cold floors in winter / humid air in summer
• AC running nonstop

It’s usually not the HVAC.
It’s the building envelope.

⸻

🔥 ATTIC INSULATION

✔ Blown fiberglass to proper R-value (R-38+ where needed)
✔ Air sealing before insulation
✔ Proper ventilation balance
✔ Reduced attic heat load
✔ More consistent indoor comfort

Hot air stays out. Conditioned air stays in.

⸻

💧 CRAWLSPACE ENCAPSULATION

✔ 12-mil+ reinforced v***r barrier (no thin plastic)
✔ Sealed wall liner system
✔ Proper fastening AND sealing — not just mechanical pins
✔ Pier wrapping
✔ Moisture control strategy
✔ Dehumidifier optimization (if installed)

No ground moisture.
No rising humidity.
No musty smell creeping into the house.

⸻

Spring is the BEST time to fix this before:
• Summer humidity spikes
• Mold becomes active
• Your AC runs constantly
• Energy bills climb

🚨 THIS is what a crawlspace is supposed to look like. 🚨

Not dirt.
Not sagging insulation.
Not open vents feeding South Carolina humidity into your home.

This is a sealed, insulated, controlled environment. 💪💧

✨ 12–20 mil reinforced v***r barrier
✨ All seams sealed tight
✨ Brick piers wrapped clean
✨ Vents sealed
✨ Access door insulated & air-sealed
✨ Foundation walls insulated with SOL-R reflective liner
✨ Santa Fe dehumidifier professionally installed

By insulating the foundation walls with SOL-R, we turn the crawlspace into a semi-conditioned space — not just a moisture barrier.

That means:

🔥 Warmer floors in winter
❄️ Less HVAC loss
💨 Lower humidity load
🦠 Reduced mold risk
🔧 Protected ductwork
💰 Improved energy efficiency

In the Midlands, moisture is not optional — it’s constant.
If your crawlspace isn’t sealed and insulated properly, it’s working against your house every day.

This is how it should be done. Clean. Tight. Built to last.

❤️ Is Your Attic Breaking Your Heart? 💔
Because love shouldn’t be drafty…

If your house can’t hold heat, your attic might be giving you the cold shoulder 🥶
Old, thin, or missing insulation =
❌ Higher power bills
❌ Cold rooms
❌ HVAC running nonstop
❌ Comfort… ghosted 👻

💘 What proper attic insulation DOES:
✔️ Keeps warm air where it belongs (inside)
✔️ Reduces drafts & cold spots
✔️ Helps your HVAC relax for once
✔️ Lowers energy bills (yes, really)

South Carolina homes lose up to 40% of their heat through an under-insulated attic — that’s not romance, that’s robbery 💸

❤️ This Valentine’s Day, show your house some love
