Something new is brewing at The Shumaker. ☕️✨ We’ve been waiting to share this one. We’re thrilled to officially introduce Lulu’s On Mulberry , the first commercial tenant coming to The Shumaker, opening Spring 2027. Already serving the Hebron community with crafted beverages, fresh pastries, warm hospitality and plenty of small-town charm, Lulu’s has created the kind of coffeehouse where you can grab your morning cup, meet a friend, settle in for a while and feel right at home.

Now, that experience is coming to Downtown Lancaster. Lulu’s on Mulberry will bring its signature blend of coffee, community, creativity and Southern hospitality into the historic walls of The Shumaker. Adding another reason for residents, neighbors and visitors to spend a little more time on Mulberry Street!

From the building that once welcomed generations through its doors to work, to a new gathering place where conversations will happen over coffee, we can’t think of a better fit for what The Shumaker is becoming. Welcome to the neighborhood, Lulu’s on Mulberry. 🤎

Your address is only part of the story. 🏢Living at The Shumaker puts you in the middle of a city with a little bit of everything: downtown streets to explore, local art and history at the Ohio Glass Museum, afternoons at the fairgrounds, and some of Lancaster’s best views waiting at Rising Park and Mt. Pleasant.

Before these walls were home, they were part of Lancaster’s working history. 👞 Long before The Shumaker became luxury lofts, this building was a factory: filled with workers, machinery, and the everyday rhythm of a very different Lancaster.

Today, pieces of that story still live throughout The Shumaker. Historic photographs line the halls, while original brick, soaring ceilings and industrial details remain part of the building itself. We didn’t want the past erased when this building became home. We wanted it to become part of the experience of living here. Turns out, more square footage isn’t always the answer. 🛋️ Sometimes it’s high ceilings. Oversized windows. A kitchen that doesn’t feel like an afterthought. A layout that uses every inch well, and enough character that 500 square feet feels anything but ordinary.

This is one of our smaller lofts at The Shumaker, and it may just be one of our favorites. This is what home starts to feel like. 🤍 This past week, we hosted our first resident gathering in our resident courtyard. A chance to meet neighbors, share a meal, laugh a little, and turn familiar hallways into familiar faces.

Because The Shumaker was never meant to be just a place to live. It’s about creating a community in the heart of Downtown Lancaster. One where people feel connected to the building, the neighborhood, and each other. A beautiful evening, great food, and the beginning of something we’re really excited to keep building.

Special thanks to Ale House 1890 for catering the evening and helping make our first resident event such a good one. Here’s to more nights like this. ✨

You can build new. Character takes time. Original brick. Exposed details. Tall windows. Pieces of the building’s past that were never meant to disappear.
