🏡 You passed the real estate exam. What happens next?

Passing the licensing examinations is an important accomplishment, but it does not automatically create clients, transactions or income.

Your first 90 days as a real estate professional should focus on building a strong foundation, developing productive habits and consistently creating opportunities.

During your first month, you may need to:

✅ Choose and join the right brokerage
✅ Complete brokerage training and onboarding
✅ Learn the contracts, systems and technology
✅ Develop a business plan and initial budget
✅ Establish a schedule for training, prospecting and follow-up

During days 31–60, your attention should increasingly turn toward building relationships, learning your market, practicing client conversations and generating business.

By days 61–90, begin evaluating your progress:

✅ Are you consistently having real estate conversations?
✅ Are you following up when you say you will?
✅ Are you becoming more knowledgeable about your market?
✅ Which activities are creating meaningful opportunities?
✅ Where do you still need training, coaching or practice?

Early progress may not immediately appear as a closing or commission check. It can also include stronger skills, increased confidence, completed appointments and a growing pipeline of prospective clients.

Before you can launch your business as a Virginia real estate agent, you must complete the required pre-license education and continue through the licensing process.

When people hear “personal brand,” they often think about logos, colors, websites and social media graphics. Those elements can be useful, but your brand begins with something deeper: your reputation.

It reflects how you communicate, how prepared you are, how consistently you follow through and how you make people feel when they interact with you.

Before becoming licensed, aspiring real estate professionals can begin preparing by:

✅ Defining their professional strengths and values
✅ Developing a polished professional presence
✅ Obtaining a professional headshot
✅ Organizing their existing network
✅ Learning about the communities they hope to serve
✅ Strengthening their communication and technology skills
