Dear Board Members, Staff, Volunteers, and Supporters,

Writing this letter is bittersweet, as I am writing to share that my last day as Executive Director of Belknap House will be October 30, 2026.

Leading this organization has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my career. Together, we have built a resilient team. I am deeply proud of what we have built together and the positive impact we continue to make for the people we serve.

Belknap House got a major upgrade today, when a new Maytag commercial washing machine arrived from Baron's Major Brands Appliances & More! Baron’s removed our old machine which has been with us since we opened. That machine handled over 6,000 loads of laundry for more than 100 families during the last ten years.

We are always grateful for Baron’s assistance in purchasing new appliances for the shelter. They’ve been good to us year after year, offering advice on brands and capacity as well as discounts when they can.

Tuesday, September 29th, Juniors and Seniors from New Hampton School came to Belknap House ready to lend a hand at some much needed yardwork. They raked, weeded and cleaned up debris from the front, back and side yards of our Court Street shelter and we are sincerely thankful for their time and effort.

Belknap House’s ninth year focused on advancing our mission of providing safe shelter to families with children while empowering them to achieve long-term self-sufficiency through education, case management, and strong connections to community resources.

Operationally, Belknap House maintained strong stability throughout the year. We retained all ten staff members across 2025, reflecting both organizational strength and a positive work environment. In addition, our dedicated volunteers remain essential to daily operations, supporting transportation, maintenance, fundraising, and community engagement efforts across both houses.

Our 2025 Annual Report is available on our website if you're interested in reading about a family's story, improvements we made, financial reports, donation impact and more!

Last year, 2,406 people in New Hampshire experienced homelessness, an increase of 6.7% from 2024. In NH, more than half the people in homeless families are children. Studies indicate that homelessness can have a long-term impact on a child’s cognitive, emotional, and social development.

Belknap House provided over 3,180 bed nights for children in 2025 and helped six families secure housing of their own amid a housing shortage. Belknap House is the only family-centered shelter in Belknap County, providing safe shelter to children alongside educational programming and customized case management for parents.

Every donation, fundraiser, sponsorship and community partnership brings us closer to fulfilling our mission to empower families, build stronger communities, and end the cycle of homelessness.

You can make a difference in the lives of children in YOUR community. Make a one-time donation or join our monthly giving program. Monthly Donations mean predictable income which helps us budget expenses better. https://www.belknaphouse.org/donate
