Following up on yesterday’s statement on Airbnb’s new policies: as promised, here are the details for the legal briefing. Due to demand, it has moved up to this Monday, November 2.

Keith Brady of Florida Vacation Rental Law is hosting a free webinar, open to the FAVR community, covering the three changes we’ve heard the most about:

All-in pricing liability and what it means for your exposure
The new 30% cancellation penalty, even when a management contract is lost
The end of rental contracts and house rules, and how to protect your property

Good afternoon, FAVR members

Many of you have written to us about the new policies Airbnb has rolled out to the vacation rental industry. We’ve heard every concern and every worry, and we’ve also heard from members who support some of the changes. Some of you have asked why FAVR hasn’t put out a statement yet.

Why we haven’t issued a statement
FAVR has represented this industry for more than 32 years. We don’t rush to judgment or put out half-finished statements. Before we speak publicly, we talk with every party involved and gather the facts and legal opinions. An issue this important needs careful work, not a debate on social media and forums.

What we’ve been doing
Much of FAVR’s policy work happens behind the scenes. Not a day has gone by without us working on this issue and a dozen more. We’ve been talking with all stakeholders, elected officials, legislators, and state and local agencies, among others. Advocacy is a marathon, not a sprint. Lasting change comes from people who roll up their sleeves and keep the conversation going, not from whoever posts first or gets the most likes.

What’s next for FAVR Members
November 10: Member legal briefing. Our legal counsel will brief all FAVR members on the policy changes. Registration details will follow in a separate email.
January 2027: Florida Legislative Session. Session starts at the State Capitol in January. This is another major focus for FAVR’s advocacy efforts. Who knows what’s in store for our industry or our community.
