❤️Monday Market Minute💛
“Should I fix everything first, or just sell the house as-is?”
It depends. And spending $30,000 on renovations doesn’t automatically mean you’ll get $30,000 more at closing.
Before putting money into your home, consider these 5 things:
1. What does your local market expect?
A home that needs some cosmetic updates may still sell well if buyers are competing for homes in that area.
2. Which improvements actually matter?
Fresh paint, updated lighting, flooring, landscaping and addressing obvious maintenance issues can sometimes make a bigger difference than a major remodel.
3. What’s the condition of the big-ticket items?
Roof, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and foundation concerns can affect a buyer’s perception—and potentially their financing.
4. What’s your return on investment? 💰
Not every renovation pays for itself. Before spending money, it’s worth looking at what similar homes are selling for and what buyers are responding to.
5. What’s your timeline and budget?
If you’re trying to sell quickly, a major renovation may not make sense. If you have time and the home is significantly behind the competition, strategic improvements could be worth considering.
