Maui County just launched the Kamaʻāina Credit through Maui United Way, and it’s built for working locals who make too much for SNAP or WIC but still feel the squeeze.

If selected, you get:
💵 $500 a month for households of 1 to 3
💵 $800 a month for households of 4 or more
📅 For 12 months, starting January 2027

It’s not a loan. You don’t pay it back.

Income brackets (2025 household income) start at:
👤 1 person: $56,580
👨‍👩‍👧 3 people: $96,960
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 4 people: $121,140

Molokaʻi and Hāna have adjusted ranges, so check the full chart before you apply.

To qualify you need to be 21 or older, live full time on Maui, Molokaʻi or Lānaʻi, and have at least one person in your household working.

If I’ve ever talked to you about selling your house, you’ve heard these three.

1️⃣ **Make it operational.** Every light switch works, every door closes, no drippy faucet, no “oh that outlet’s been dead for years.” Buyers notice the small stuff, and small stuff makes them wonder what else got skipped. Fix it before it shows up on the inspection report.

2️⃣ **Get a professional clean.** Not a “we cleaned before the open house” clean. A real one. Baseboards, windows, grout, the inside of the oven. It’s one of the cheapest things you can do and buyers can feel the difference the second they open the front door.

3️⃣ **Stage it.** Buyers are trying to picture their life in your house. Help them out. Less clutter, fewer personal photos, furniture that shows how each room actually works. It doesn’t have to be fancy, it just has to make sense.
