National Fire Prevention Week — and as someone who spends a lot of time helping families find the right home, this is one I take seriously every year. 🏡

Three things I always encourage people to do:

1. Test every smoke detector in the house — bedrooms, hallways, basement. Replace anything over 10 years old without a second thought.

2. Clean out the dryer vent and lint trap. It is the most common cause of house fires that most people never think about.

3. Sit down with your family and walk through the exit plan for every room. Make sure everyone knows it — especially the kids.

Worth a Saturday morning.
