It’s National Book Month, and Houston is a pretty great place to be a reader.
From 31 independent bookstores, participating in this year’s Houston Bookstore Crawl to the Houston Public Library and Harris County Public Library systems, there are countless places around the city to find your next read. Add in local literary organizations like Inprint, neighborhood favorites like Brazos Bookstore, Kindred Stories and Kaboom Books, plus nonprofits like Books Between Kids and Books for Development that help put books into the hands of people who need them, and it’s clear Houston has a thriving literary community.
So this month, skip the algorithm and wander a bookstore, browse a library shelf, check out a local author event, or donate a few gently loved books!
