Being on a team is not the best fit for everyone. Neither is going solo.
But you definitely need to understand your options before you pick a lane.
I was an agent on a team for nine years before I started my own. I've talked to hundreds of agents about this. Most of them picked a path without ever actually comparing the two.
Solo means full control. You build your brand your way, you make every decision, you set your own pace. It also means you're generating your own leads, running your own marketing, handling your own files, and holding yourself accountable with nobody checking in. Some agents thrive in that. They have the database, the systems, and the discipline, and they don't need anyone in their ear.
A team means you plug into a structure that's already built. Leads, training, a TC, a sales manager, people around you working the same game. You give up some independence for that. Some agents grow faster this way because they're not building everything from scratch while trying to sell at the same time.
Neither one is wrong. They're built for different agents at different stages.
The mistake is not knowing what you're actually getting or giving up in either one. Who generates the business, who handles the files, who holds you accountable, what your day actually looks like. Most agents can't answer those questions about the path they're already on.
Know both. Then pick the one that fits where you are right now.
If you want a side by side on solo vs team so you can see it clearly, I'll send it over. No pitch.
