If my own house was hitting the market tomorrow, this is the list I’d be working through tonight.

I spend a lot of time in Bergen County homes with buyers, and I see what makes them lean in and what makes them nervous. Most of it comes down to preparation, not big renovations.

The step sellers skip most? Open permits and town inspections. Every Bergen County town handles resale inspections a little differently, and finding out late can push back your closing date. Start that part early.

Sayings you only hear in Bergen County, NJ. Be honest, how many of these have you said this week?

🗣️ “I’m going into the city.” (There is obviously only one city)
🗣️ “Wait, it’s Sunday. Everything is closed.”
🗣️ “We’re going down the shore this weekend.”
🗣️ “It’s only 20 minutes to the city.” (Without traffic. There is always traffic)
🗣️ “Did you see the post on the town Facebook group?”
🗣️ “17 is a parking lot!” (My dad says this every time he comes to visit us)

If you’ve ever said one of these at school pickup, a kids’ birthday party, or in line for coffee, congratulations, you’re officially a Bergen County local. No take-backs.
