📁 **7 Steps to Organize Your Tax Records — Before Tax Season Arrives!**

Every year, millions of taxpayers begin preparing their federal income tax returns by searching for missing documents, receipts, bank statements, and records of deductible expenses.

**There's a better way!**

At RetireCoast, we believe tax preparation should be an organized, year-round process—not a last-minute scramble to find paperwork.

Our article, **7 Steps to Organize Your Tax Records**, explains how to create a practical system for collecting, organizing, and maintaining the information you need.

Whether you're retired, raising a family, working for an employer, or operating a small business, good recordkeeping can save time, reduce mistakes, and help you identify tax benefits you might otherwise overlook.

🧾 **And we've added something new!**

Our FREE 2026 Interactive Tax Organizer helps guide you through income, deductions, credits, retirement distributions, and other tax preparation categories.

The article also connects you with our updated **2026 Form 1040-SR Tax Forecast Tool** and **Year-End Retirement Tax Planning Calendar**, so you can move beyond organizing records and start planning ahead.

💡 **Remember: Good tax planning doesn't begin when you file your return. It begins when you make the financial decisions that will eventually appear on that return.**

You don't need to become a tax expert. You need an organized system and access to reliable educational resources.

🎨 **FROM CLASSIC CARS TO COASTAL ART — OCEAN SPRINGS DOES IT AGAIN!** 🚂

Just a few weeks after classic cars filled the streets of downtown Ocean Springs for Cruisin' the Coast, those same streets will be transformed into one of the largest arts and crafts festivals in the South!

The **Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival returns November 7–8, 2026**, featuring more than 400 artists, craftspeople, and food vendors. Enjoy original paintings, pottery, jewelry, coastal artwork, live music, great food, and the charm of historic downtown Ocean Springs.

🚂 **NEW FOR 2026:** Amtrak is making special stops in Ocean Springs for the festival! Visitors from New Orleans, Mobile, and other communities along the route have another way to enjoy the festivities.

🎨 There's much more to this festival than shopping. It celebrates the remarkable Anderson family's artistic heritage, including Walter Anderson's extraordinary experiences living and painting on Horn Island.

🦩 Ocean Springs also has two newly installed gateway sculptures, illuminated at night, celebrating the city's artistic identity.

🏖️ Here's something you may not know: I frequently encourage owners of vacation rentals managed by Christie's Gulf Beach Rentals to purchase original coastal artwork at this festival. Many have done just that! Paintings of beaches, pelicans, herons, and other shorebirds help give their properties an authentic Gulf Coast atmosphere.

My wife and I have attended the festival over the years, and it's one of our favorite opportunities to enjoy the artists, local businesses, and atmosphere of Ocean Springs.

I've completely refreshed our RetireCoast visitor guide with festival details, Amtrak information, parking, local history, and much more.

Whether you live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, visit for the winter, or are thinking about retiring here, this is an event worth experiencing!

📅 **15 Year-End Retirement Tax Planning Steps That Could Make a Difference for Years to Come**

Are you approaching the end of 2026 without reviewing the financial decisions that could affect your retirement?

Most people think about taxes when it's time to file their returns. But by then, some of the best opportunities to strengthen your retirement finances may have already passed.

At **RetireCoast**, we believe year-end tax planning should be about much more than reducing this year's tax bill. It's about **building retirement wealth, protecting your savings, and making smarter decisions for the years ahead.**

Our new article, **15-Step Year-End Retirement Tax Checklist for 2026**, explores important opportunities you should consider before the year ends.

✅ **Capture your full employer retirement match.** Don't overlook compensation that could help grow your retirement savings.

✅ **Review your 401(k) and IRA contributions.** Are you making the most of your available retirement savings opportunities?

✅ **Consider Roth conversions.** Could paying taxes now create greater financial flexibility later?

✅ **Complete required minimum distributions.** And remember, taking an RMD doesn't mean you have to spend the money. You may be able to reinvest it in a brokerage account or make an eligible Roth IRA contribution.

✅ **Review investment gains and losses.** Strategic decisions before year-end may affect your tax situation.

✅ **Understand HSA opportunities.** Healthcare savings can become a valuable part of retirement planning.

✅ **Consider Medicare premiums, charitable giving, and business-owner retirement strategies.**

We've also included new RetireCoast infographics explaining how to capture your full employer match and what you can do with your RMD after taking the required distribution.

📅 **23 Retirement Planning Tasks. Three Months. One Stronger Financial Future.**

Are you making the most of the financial opportunities available before another year comes to an end?

Most people think about year-end tax planning in December, when there may be little time left to make important decisions. But retirement planning is about much more than reducing this year's tax bill.

It's about building wealth, protecting what you've accumulated, and preparing for the retirement you want.

That's why we created the **FREE RetireCoast Year-End Retirement Tax Planning Calendar**.

This interactive tool organizes **23 important financial planning tasks** across October, November, and December.

✅ Review retirement contributions and employer matching opportunities.

✅ Consider Roth conversions and their potential tax consequences.

✅ Check required minimum distributions and other deadlines.

✅ Review HSA contributions and investment decisions.

✅ Set your own target dates, track completed tasks, and record notes.

✅ Print or save your personalized planning calendar.

**No membership required. No registration. No email address. Completely free.**

Your progress is saved in your browser, so you can return to the calendar as you work through your decisions.

And here's something important: **You don't have to be retired to benefit from this tool.**

Some of the most valuable retirement decisions happen 5, 10, or even 20 years before you stop working.

At RetireCoast, we believe December 31 should be your annual financial planning checkpoint—not the day you begin thinking about retirement.

Our calendar is designed to help you establish that habit year after year.

How much of your retirement income will already be spoken for before you get to enjoy it?

Your savings balance matters—but so do the bills that follow you into retirement. Mortgage payments, vehicle loans, credit cards, groceries, insurance, and healthcare all compete for the same dollars.

And paying off your house doesn’t eliminate housing expenses. Property taxes, insurance, maintenance, and that eventual roof or air-conditioning replacement still need a place in your budget.

Our new **RetireCoast Retirement Blueprint: Debt & Expenses** section helps you look at the whole picture. Explore free articles and calculators to organize your spending, evaluate mortgage decisions, anticipate rising costs, and see whether your expected income supports the retirement you want.

From my own retirement planning experience, I learned that even a carefully prepared budget can overlook expenses. Your home ages right along with you—and planning for those costs gives you more choices when they arrive.

Start with your actual numbers. You may discover opportunities to reduce debt, build reserves, or adjust your plans while you

💰 **Taxes in Retirement: Are You Planning for What You'll Actually Keep?**

You worked for decades, saved for retirement, and looked forward to the day when your money would work for you.

But here's something many people don't fully consider: **Not all retirement income is taxed the same way.**

Social Security, traditional IRAs, 401(k)s, pensions, Roth accounts, and investment income can all receive different tax treatment.

And sometimes, one financial decision can trigger an unexpected tax consequence.

Consider Mary, one of the characters in our RetireCoast Retirement Blueprint. She's 65, widowed, and plans to continue working until at least age 70. Should she claim Social Security while she's still earning a paycheck? How will her retirement withdrawals affect her taxes? What happens to her tax situation now that she's filing as a single taxpayer?

Then there's Jake, a plumbing business owner who expects to work into his early 70s. His retirement income could eventually come from several sources, each with different tax consequences.

These are real planning questions that millions of Americans face.

🏡 **Our new FREE RetireCoast Retirement Blueprint guide, "Taxes in Retirement," explores:**

✅ Why up to 85% of Social Security benefits may be taxable

✅ How IRA and 401(k) withdrawals affect retirement income

✅ The difference between traditional and Roth retirement accounts

✅ Federal tax deductions available to eligible seniors

✅ How retirement income can affect Medicare premiums

✅ Why state taxes matter when deciding where to retire

✅ How tax planning before retirement can influence your financial future

We've also included links to our existing retirement tax articles and **free interactive tools**, including our Tax Organizer and Form 1040-SR Tax Forecast Calculator.

For Blueprint members, we're developing three deeper discussions: *The Retirement Tax Torpedo, The Widow's Tax Penalty, and The Retirement Tax Window.*

Our goal isn't simply to help you pay less tax in one year. It's to help you understand how taxes fit into your entire retirement plan.

What happens to your health insurance when you retire—or keep working beyond 65?

The retirement date you choose can affect more than your paycheck. Healthcare coverage, Medicare enrollment, HSA contributions, prescriptions, and future care costs all belong in your plan.

Our free Healthcare & Insurance section of the RetireCoast Retirement Blueprint brings these decisions together with practical articles, a planning checklist, and two free tools:

✅ Retirement Healthcare Cost Forecast Calculator
✅ HSA Contribution & Retirement Growth Calculator

Follow Mary, Jake, and Sally as they consider different questions: working beyond 65, coordinating Social Security with Medicare, and saving for healthcare years before retirement.

Already have an HSA? Understanding when contribution eligibility ends—and how you can continue using your balance—is an important part of the transition.
