This Grand Valley neighborhood sits between the Colorado and Gunnison rivers, and its fruit-growing roots run deep. Mesa County's apple crop hit 1,400 rail cars back in 1909, and later the mesa became known as one of the country's most concentrated peach districts.

Ever watched an entire Main Street light up at once? 🎄

Downtown Grand Junction's Tree Lighting is Saturday, Nov. 21, 5-7 pm at 4th + Main Plaza. Santa flips the switch on the tree and every light on Main at the same time, then visits with the kids.

Free, walkable, and a great way to kick off the season in the Grand Valley. Save the date for the Parade of Lights on Dec. 5, too.

Think you have to drive to Denver for a night at the symphony? Not anymore. 🎻

The Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra plays Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto and Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet on Nov. 14 (7:30 p.m.) and Nov. 15 (3:00 p.m.) at the Asteria Theatre on the CMU campus. Tickets start at $5.25.

Singletrack in the morning, a full orchestra at night. That's the Western Slope.

Ski season is about five weeks out. ❄️ Powderhorn, on the rim of Grand Mesa, is tentatively targeting a Friday, November 20 opening for its 60th winter, with a birthday party set for December 5.

That's the Western Slope in a nutshell: farmers' markets and downtown dinners one day, a ski mountain a short drive up the mesa the next. Thinking about making the move? Reach out anytime.

Main Street is closing for candy. 🎃

The Downtown Spooktacular takes over Main Street in downtown Grand Junction on Saturday, October 24, from 4 to 6 p.m. — trick-or-treating at downtown businesses, plus activities and performances for kids. Weekend downtown parking is free, but give yourself extra time with the street closed.

Prefer a weeknight? Trunk or Treat Riverside Market at The Eddy is Monday, October 19, 4 to 8 p.m.

Rainy-day plans, sorted. 🦕

On Thursday, October 15, the Museum of the West in Grand Junction hosts An Evening with Local Authors, 6 to 8 p.m. Out in Fruita, Dinosaur Journey has 15,000+ fossil specimens, a working paleo lab, and monthly programs including a Sensory Hour on October 10 and a free Story Time on October 15.

Where do Grand Junction locals go when they want the river, the art, and a little fall color in one outing? 🍂

The Colorado Riverfront Trail runs about 28 paved miles from downtown to Loma, and Las Colonias Park is an easy place to start. Sculptures, murals, and bird-watching are all along the way, and the Botanical Gardens next door hosts Harvest Illuminated October 22-24.
