🧐🧐🧐 That’s interesting!
Imagine skipping traffic on the Dallas North Tollway and flying from Frisco to DFW Airport in a matter of minutes. That futuristic commute could eventually become reality after Archer Aviation announced plans on Friday, Oct. 23, to include Frisco Station in its proposed Dallas Fort Worth air taxi network. The company wants to connect major airports and business districts using Midnight, its all electric aircraft, which is designed to carry passengers on short regional flights. According to Archer, trips that currently take 60 to 90 minutes by car could potentially be completed in just 10 to 20 minutes by air. The proposed North Texas network includes DFW International Airport, Dallas Love Field, Fort Worth Meacham, Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance, Addison Airport and Arlington Municipal Airport. But here's what makes the announcement especially interesting for local residents. Frisco Station, the 242 acre development surrounding The Star, was the only business district specifically named in the company's North Texas announcement. For Frisco commuters who regularly deal with congestion along the Dallas North Tollway, Highway 121 and surrounding roads, the idea of flying over traffic instead of sitting in it could be a major change. However, there are still some significant unanswered questions. Archer has not announced a launch date, ticket prices or the exact location of a potential Frisco landing site. The company is pursuing operations under a federal electric aircraft pilot program, and its Texas plans remain subject to change. Archer is also planning networks in Houston and Austin, signaling a broader effort to bring electric air travel to major Texas cities. For now, Frisco has a place on the proposed air taxi map, but whether these flights become an affordable transportation option or a premium luxury service remains to be seen.
