A new kind of community where food is grown, people come together, and learning happens through direct connection to the land. 🌱 Let's Neighbor!

10/29/2026

Remember what it felt like to savor something that took an entire season to grow? Let's pick apples and practice patience. 🍎

It's time to go back to the basics.

10/26/2026

A beacon of possibilities. A feast for the senses. A place where wellness grows wild. That's Armistead.

10/20/2026

What if your neighborhood was more than a place to live? What if it was a place to grow, gather, learn, and feel connected to something bigger? 🌱

That’s the vision behind an agrihood, and it’s what makes Armistead Farm so special.

With the help of partners like Nifty Hoops, who work to extend growing seasons across the country, Armistead is helping shape a future where community and agriculture grow side by side.

Imagine stepping outside to a working farm, knowing where your food comes from, gathering with neighbors over a shared harvest, and watching your children develop a deeper appreciation for the land around them. Here, the farm becomes more than a beautiful backdrop. It becomes part of everyday life.

And how we care for that land matters. Through regenerative, no-till farming practices, Armistead Farm is working to protect and improve soil health, support a thriving ecosystem, and grow food with future generations in mind.

Because a great place to live isn’t just defined by the homes we build. It’s defined by the connections we make, the traditions we create, and the things we choose to preserve.

At Armistead, we’re growing more than a neighborhood. We’re cultivating a community rooted in the land, connected by a shared purpose, and built to flourish for generations to come. 🌾

From the dirt comes something extraordinary—but we need your help. 🌱

Armistead Farm is about to break ground on the first high tunnels, or "hoop houses," pictured here. These structures will allow us to grow vegetables season after season, setting the groundwork for all that is still to come.

With guidance from our newly hired Farm Manager, Matt Nesbitt, and Assistant Farm Manager Geoff Hartnell, plus our partners at Nifty Hoops, we're looking for volunteers to help bring this vision to life.

No farming experience required, just an eagerness to get your hands dirty and availability October 5-10. Will you join us? Sign up to help at armisteadfarm.org/volunteer.

Trends come and go, but some things never change.

Like knowing where your food comes from or your neighbor's name. Like getting your hands dirty for the sake of community. Or waking up to the sound of birds instead of notifications.

That's what we're building here at Armistead.

Family is at the heart of everything we do at Armistead.

We’re honoring the legacy of the Short family, who have cared for and farmed this land for 135 years, while creating a place where new families can put down roots and flourish for generations to come.

A place where agriculture, education, and everyday life can grow side by side.

And, most importantly, a place we’ll all be proud to call home.

Imagine a place where life unfolds season by season. Where seeds planted in spring become verdant rows to cultivate, harvest, and share. 🍃

Where summer evenings mean walking the creek as the sun sets and lightning bugs rise over the pasture. Where the most fertile ground is left for growing (not building), and the environment simply makes room for it.

This is Armistead. An agrihood where people of all ages can live, work, learn, and play amongst the beauty of an active working farm. 🌾

Agrihoods do more than bring people closer to the land... they create space for the land to thrive too. 🐝 🌱

It's true! Green spaces release water v***r that helps counter the urban heat island effect. So yes, your neighborhood farm is quietly working against those brutal Tennessee summers and helping keep you cool!

It's also soaking up stormwater before it ever reaches the drains (a big deal in flood-prone Franklin), and giving pollinators like bees and hummingbirds a safe home base.

Just another reason we love growing where we live.

Next month, Armistead Farm is building its very first high tunnels (aka "hoop houses"), the structures that will let them grow vegetables season after season. It's the foundation for everything still to come at the farm, and they're inviting the whole community to be part of it.
