⚓ OCTOBER HOME MAINTENANCE CHECKLIST 🍂
October is a good time to get your home ready for cooler weather. Here are a few things to tackle this month:
✅ Schedule your heating system service
Have your system checked before you need it regularly.
✅ Seal out drafts
Check weatherstripping around doors and windows. Replace worn seals to help keep the warm air inside.
✅ Clean gutters and downspouts
Remove fallen leaves and make sure downspouts direct water away from the foundation.
✅ Check outdoor faucets
Look for leaks and have faucet covers ready. Disconnect garden hoses before freezing weather arrives.
✅ Inspect the fireplace
If you plan to use a wood-burning fireplace, have the chimney inspected and cleaned as needed before your first fire.
✅ Adjust your sprinkler schedule
As temperatures cool, review watering times and watch for standing water or overspray.
✅ Test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
Check the manufacture date and replace alarms according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
💡 October maintenance tip: Keep leaves and mulch away from siding, outdoor equipment, and drainage openings. A quick cleanup can help keep water flowing where it should.
