A mystery company picked Fort Mill over Atlanta.
A European discount retailer with no U.S. stores or offices at all is putting its first North American headquarters and distribution center in the former Stanley Black & Decker building at Pleasant Road and Carowinds Boulevard — 345,000 square feet, vacant about two years.
$25.5 million invested. 215 jobs over five years, including about 80 headquarters jobs averaging over $87,000. It weighed Atlanta and Huntersville and chose York County.
York County Council gave first-reading approval unanimously on October 19 — by title only, which is why there’s no name yet. The company has agreed to reveal it at second reading.
It’s not Lidl or Aldi — both already have U.S. headquarters. So who is it? We’ll tell you the day it’s public.
