Think mortgage rates are high? Let’s put things into perspective. 🏡

In the 1980s, mortgage rates climbed above 18%. In the 1990s, buyers regularly saw rates between 7% and 10%. Even in the early 2000s, rates around 6% were considered relatively favorable.

The historically low rates of 2020 and 2021 were the exception, not the rule.

So what does that mean for today’s buyers and sellers in Dallas–Fort Worth?

It means waiting for mortgage rates to return to 3% might not be the best real estate strategy.

For buyers, today’s DFW housing market may offer opportunities to negotiate on price, request seller concessions, and explore homes with less competition than during the pandemic-era buying frenzy.
