๐Ÿก HOW MUCH HOUSE IS TOO MUCH HOUSE?

I grew up in Levittown, New York, where modest homes helped make homeownership attainable for ordinary working people.

When my wife and I bought our home, we asked ourselves, โ€œHow much house is too much houseโ€”and how much do we want to clean?โ€

We chose a home under 1,400 square feet with an attached two-car garage. We now have two young children, and itโ€™s still the largest house either of us has ever lived in.

I also like that the limited space keeps us physically close together. More square footage provides privacy and convenience, but Iโ€™m not convinced separating everyone into different parts of the house always makes life better.

Maybe affordable housing in the P*e Dee isnโ€™t about making 2,500-square-foot homes cheaper. Maybe we need more well-designed homes between 1,200 and 1,500 square feet.

According to Homes.com, overall mortgage applications increased **3.6%** last week as borrowers took advantage of slightly lower rates.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Refinance applications increased **5%**

What stands out to me is how little rates had to move to get a response. There are clearly buyers sitting on the sidelines and paying attention.

If rates continue trending down, we could see more buyers entering the marketโ€”and more competition for available homes.
