π Distracted by Bob GoffβItβs a game-changer, and I'm about 75% through it. One chapter that stands out talks about the idea of an "all-access pass" in life. Weβve all got one. The only spot thatβs off-limits? Center stageβthat belongs to Jesus.
In this era, everything is at our fingertips. We can achieve whatever we set our minds to. Yet, like many, Iβve been caught up in the constant distractionsβscrolling through social media, endless TV, the lure of the phone. But here's the thing: I've started to turn it around.
This summer, I made a small changeβreplaced mindless noise with thought-provoking audiobooks. Iβve been listening to a new book weekly, and itβs been like a mental reset button. My playlist got an overhaul, tooβChristian artists like Forrest Frank, Elevation Worship, and Maverick City Music are in heavy rotation. But donβt get me wrong, I still crank up the classics: Journey, AC/DC, Led Zeppelinβtheyβll always have a place.
Another shift? I tuned out the political noise on social mediaβunfollowed about 95% of the stuff that once filled my feed. The difference in my mood was night and day. It was like a fog lifted.
When I cut out the distractions, I realized something profound: access to what really matters is right in front of usβno, not just financially. It goes deeper. Itβs about a clearer mind, a lighter heart, and a sharper focus on what truly makes life meaningful.
I recommend Distracted and Bob Goffβs other book, Dream Big. His perspective is unapologetically Christian, but even if thatβs not your thing, thereβs gold in there.
Take a beat. Unplug. Focus on what genuinely lights you up. Whether it's a walk, a book, or yes, even posting on Facebook every five minutesβchase what makes you, you. π
