ASSESSMENTS:
Local crews are continuing damage assessments. So far, 600 properties have been surveyed. FEMA is also doing preliminary assessments.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT ASSESSMENTS: This initial assessment is only the first. It is going to support the request for an emergency declaration; there will be numerous additional assessments for different purposes. Additionally, FEMA is on the ground and doing additional assessments as well. Homeowners and business owners should document damages and losses.
Businesses should be ready to report that information to be part of the disaster declaration; we will have information on how to report that soon.
SAFETY WARNING:
Do not return to evacuated areas. With current hazmat concerns and potential for more rainfall soon, re-entry remains hazardous.
SHELTER STATUS:
McGee Park's Red Cross Shelter is OPEN and is still accepting individuals and families impacted by the flood.
ROAD CLOSURES:
Highway 539 (Navajo Lake State Park) is closed from mile marker 0 to mile marker 5 due to severe flood damage.
There are additional residential street closures in place.
