The Florida Forest Service is conducting a prescribed burn of about 80 acres in Myakka State Forest.
You may see or smell smoke in the area. That's expected.

Why are prescribed burns done? Prescribed fire is one of the most useful and cost-effective tools land managers have. It helps to:
🌲 Reduce built-up brush and dry fuel, which protects people, homes, and the forest
🌲 Control disease in young pines
🦌 Improve wildlife habitat
🐢 Protect endangered plants and animals
🌿 Keep fire-dependent ecosystems healthy

Fire is a natural part of Florida's landscape. Done safely, it helps prevent bigger wildfires later.

I had to share this because I couldn’t stop smiling when I saw it!

I gave ChatGPT a picture of a plain white pumpkin and asked it to decorate it based on everything it knows about me.
