A little of what caught my eye at the R.W. Norton Art Gallery—from the artwork to the architecture and those beautiful grounds. 🌿

Rich and I enjoyed exploring, and I kept finding another detail worth stopping for. I’m learning my new city one outing at a time, and I love sharing these finds with you!

Which caught your eye most—the art, the architecture, or the gardens?

My list of places to try just got longer! 🍽️

It’s Shreveport–Bossier Black Restaurant Week, October 18–24, and I wanted to share this restaurant guide with you. I’m still learning my new city, and discovering the people and food behind our local businesses is one of the parts I’m most excited about.

This week is a chance to try something new and support Black-owned restaurants in our community. I’m sharing the guide so you can keep the locations and contact details handy while making your plans. Confirm current hours, specials, and food-truck locations directly before heading out.

If you’ve eaten at one of the places on this guide, what dish would you tell me to order first?

A space escape, right here in Shreveport. This is one for the later-this-week list!

Sci-Port’s Sawyer Space Dome Planetarium is included with general admission—not a separate planetarium ticket. I wanted to share that little planning detail because it makes an indoor afternoon sound even more interesting.

A few things to know before heading over:
• Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
• Open Wednesday–Friday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.; Sunday, noon–5 p.m.
• 820 Clyde Fant Parkway, with free parking.
• Planetarium showtimes vary by day, so check the schedule before your visit.

The programs include time for audience questions. What space question would you bring to the planetarium’s Q&A?

Our first Red River Revel felt like one discovery after another. 🎨

Beyond the food and music, there were colorful installations, creative photo spots, vendors, and plenty to take in just walking through the festival. This little Reel is the “everything else” part of the day—the details that made us stop, look around, and enjoy being there.

Shreveport, you were a blast!

For those who know the Revel well, what should we make sure we don’t miss next time?

🎡❤️ REVEL 2026 — PART 4: THAT’S A WRAP!

And just like that, we’ve reached the final part of our Red River Revel adventure!

From the incredible art and delicious food to live music, activities for the kids, and plenty of fun photo opportunities, there really was something for everyone!

We’re still getting to know Shreveport, and I have to say, exploring our new city has been such a fun experience.

One thing I especially loved was seeing families out enjoying the beautiful day together. ❤️

Shreveport, you’ve got a lot to offer, and we’re excited to keep discovering it all!

If you missed the rest of our Revel adventures, check out Parts 1, 2, and 3!

🎶🎤 REVEL 2026 — PART 3: THE MUSIC!

One thing we’re learning about Shreveport… this city knows how to put on a show! 🎸❤️

We wandered from stage to stage, enjoying different sounds, talented musicians, and the beautiful weather.

There’s just something about live music, good food, and being surrounded by people having a great time!

We’re having so much fun discovering everything our new city has to offer, and Revel certainly didn’t disappoint!

🍴😋 REVEL 2026 — PART 2: THE FOOD!

Y’all know we couldn’t go to Revel and NOT try the food! 😂

One of my favorite things about exploring Shreveport is discovering all the delicious food along the way.

And judging by these pictures, we were definitely enjoying ourselves! 😂❤️

Good food, beautiful weather, and a great time together. That’s my kind of Saturday!

🎨✨ REVEL 2026 — PART 1: THE ART!

Y’all, there was SO much to see at Revel that there’s no way I can fit it all into one post! 😂

From incredibly detailed drawings to colorful paintings and some of the most unique artwork I’ve seen, the talent on display was amazing!

I’m really enjoying getting to know our new city, and events like this make me appreciate Shreveport even more! ❤️

And the art was just the beginning! We enjoyed good food, cool music, and plenty of fun for everyone.

I’m breaking our Revel adventure into four parts:

🎨 Part 1: ART

🍴 Part 2: FOOD

🎶 Part 3: MUSIC

Before you buy State Fair tickets, check the day AND the time. I found a detail worth sharing: admission is free before 3 p.m. Wednesday–Friday during this year’s fair.

The State Fair of Louisiana runs October 29–November 15, 2026, in Shreveport and is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Opening day, Thursday, October 29, is 11 a.m.–9 p.m.—so arriving before 3 p.m. puts you in that free-admission window.

That means entry, not an all-inclusive outing: rides, food, and purchases cost extra. If a weekday visit fits your schedule, this could leave a little more room in the budget for the things you actually want to do.

For those who know this fair well, what’s one thing a first-time visitor shouldn’t miss?
