Think college town retail is just dorm supplies and game-day crowds? Look closer.

The students leave. The economy doesn’t.

University employees. Local businesses built around talent. Visitors coming for everything from football games to on-campus performances. A new class of shoppers arriving every fall.

The academic calendar only tells part of the story.

Karly Iacono and Chris dig into the retail opportunity hiding beyond the enrollment numbers on What’s in Store.

Hello Kitty Cafe Chicago understood the assignment. So did our NWS Architects team.

Two floors. Plenty of pink. A whole brand brought to life on Chicago’s Michigan Avenue.

Our teammates at NWS helped take Hello Kitty Cafe from concept through construction, creating a destination for sweet treats, shopping, and afternoon tea.

Shoutout to NWS, general contractor Level Builders, and Saxony Capital Management for helping connect NWS with the opportunity.

Step inside. Your coffee run just got a lot more interesting.

The best deals aren’t always the ones you set out to make. 👈

Sometimes the real opportunity is the one you uncover along the way.

Vincent C***o knows a thing or two about that.

It takes relationships. Creativity. Knowing the players. And recognizing when there’s something much bigger on the table.

Chris Ressa and Vince, the SVP of Real Estate at DICK'S Sporting Goods, tells the story of a department store deal that took an unexpected turn and helped set the stage for billions in redevelopment in downtown Salt Lake City.

The negotiations. The personalities. The curveballs.

That’s the stuff you won’t find in a press release.

And it’s what makes a great deal story.

10 properties. $625 million. One breakthrough deal.

DLC’s West Coast debut wasn’t a small one.

Our $625 million portfolio acquisition with DRA Advisors brought 10 shopping centers across California and Washington into our growing national portfolio.

Now, that transaction has earned DLC a finalist spot for Retail Transaction of the Year at the Commercial Observer Breakthrough Awards.

Big deals take strong partnerships, conviction, and a team that knows how to execute.

Congratulations to our partners at DRA Advisors and the DLC team who made it happen.

Come for the chocolate. Stay for the experience. 🍫

120 varieties of chocolate. A quiz to find your perfect match. Drinking chocolate, sweet treats, and a store that turns chocolate shopping into an experience.

is bringing a whole new kind of indulgence to the U.S., and our affiliate NWS Architects is helping bring its stores to life.

Kelly Goering and Chris Ressa talk expansion, finding the right locations, and creating stores customers want to explore.

Plus, Kelly figures out Chris’s chocolate personality. The verdict? Exquisitely nutty. We can’t argue with that.

We bleeped Chris Ressa talking about shopping center vacancy.

Was it necessary? Absolutely not. Did it get your attention? Hopefully.

On the Retail Retold YouTube channel, Chris gets into the deals, decisions, and people behind the stores you see every day. If you’ve ever wondered why a space goes vacant, or how the right retailer ends up there, there’s a story for you.

The People Are the Plot.

A student with good questions. A COO with a complicated deal story. And a few lessons about the people who make retail real estate work.

When Asa Moran, a student at The University of Alabama and host of CRE Simplified asks Chris Ressa what he looks for in a teammate.  Chris names three qualities:

👥 Humility: Put the team first.
🔥 Hunger: Do more than what’s required.
💬 People smarts: Know how to connect with others.

Those qualities matter when a deal involves competing grocers, a pharmacy that cannot close, and several decisions that have to come together at once. Ace and Chris get into that story, along with the lessons Chris has learned about leadership and building a career in commercial real estate.

Randhurst Village was iconic long before DLC arrived. We are proud to have added to its story.

Since acquiring the property in 2016, our team executed a leasing and redevelopment strategy that strengthened Randhurst Village for its next chapter.

Among the milestones:

➡️ Transforming the former 200,000-square-foot Carson Pirie Scott into HomeGoods and Macy’s

➡️ Repositioning the former Bed Bath & Beyond for Skechers and Nike

➡️ Expanding Randhurst Village into a local dining destination

➡️ Bringing together DLC, NWS Architects (https://www.linkedin.com/company/nws-architects/), and Renovo Construction (https://www.linkedin.com/company/renovo-builds/) to move projects from concept through completion

Today, we announced the sale of Randhurst Village and the completion of our business plan.

We are proud of the value we created and excited to see Randhurst Village’s rich history continue.
