I strive to create exceptional real estate experiences for my clients through delivery of remarkable service on the back of my extensive experience and knowledge base. I have a marketing team and a transaction coordinator, but I will never get an assistant. I will refer people to another Realtor I hold in high regard before I spread myself thin enough to require assistance. I did not dream of becoming a Realtor when I grew up. I wanted to be an artist. But when I graduated with my BFA in Photography and Design, I decided to stay in Durango, so I had to sell my condo (there was a neighbor who hated my dogs, making home life miserable), and buy a house with a yard. The agent who I hired was truly terrible. He was a sales-y kind of guy who was out for himself more than he was for me. He could not keep straight what property we were selling, and which one we were buying. He wanted me to list my condo $30k less than I could tell it was worth, and he didn't want to ask for major items under inspection... terrible. So I did all of my own research, advocated for myself, and ended up quite well at the end of my transaction. AND I LOVED IT. He even told me I was good at this and I should do it professionally (I had already enrolled in Real Estate College at that point). I was going to take care of people the way I wished he had taken care of me, and I was going to use my artistic mind to bring creativity to negotiations and marketing. Here I am 20 years later, still doing just that, and I still love my job so much. I also still have dogs that rule my life.

How did you end up in your field?

Well, these stats show that everything is UP, but that is not how it feels in the trenches...Certainly inventory and days on market are way up this year (Buyer's market), but List and Sales prices have been generally adjusting down slowly all year. These particular stats are from a rolling 12 months sample, and the Durango area is further skewed by luxury pockets that are outliers in price. Don't forget - this is a healthy, long overdue, correction, and Sellers are still realizing average + profits if they have owned more than a few years.
