That's a wrap on our annual series celebrating the women behind the businesses that make our community so special! We hope you've enjoyed getting to know 31 incredible women making their mark in Bucks County & beyond during National Women in Business Month. We're grateful to have such an inspiring community of women to celebrate & can't wait to do it all again next year!

🌟 Cats, coffee & desserts? For Eilene Kramer, that sounded like a pretty perfect combination. As she approached retirement from a career in education, her daughter casually suggested she open a cat café. Eilene had never even heard of one, but the idea stuck. Two years later, she opened Doylestown’s MeWow Cat Cafe, discovering just how much the community wanted a place to enjoy a treat while spending time with cats. Her opening weekend brought more than 300 visitors, so many that police had to help manage the crowds!

🌟 Just five months after opening, Eilene faced another unexpected challenge when COVID forced the café to close. With support from understanding landlords, she made it through the shutdown & eventually reopened with safety protocols in place. That’s when she saw just how much the cats meant to people. Visitors would come simply to hold a cat & enjoy a little comfort & connection during an uncertain time. Eilene also learned that caring for animals comes with emotional challenges of its own, especially when a cat gets sick & requires extra care while still maintaining the business.

🌟 Between caring for her feline residents & spending time with a big family that includes grandchildren, Eilene says life is “utterly crazy & blessed.” There isn’t much downtime when live animals depend on you, but she wouldn’t have it any other way. She remains passionate about creating a welcoming experience for every customer & helping her cats find loving forever homes. MeWow’s motto captures the feeling she hopes everyone takes with them: “Come happy, leave happier.”

🌟 Amanda Reichert’s path to opening Near Counseling & Wellness was shaped by a lifelong interest in understanding people & a desire to make others feel truly seen & supported. Drawing on her own experiences, education & professional training, she created the kind of space she knows can make a difference: one built on genuine connection, curiosity & compassion. At Near, she brings that approach to helping people better understand themselves & navigate life’s challenges.

🌟 Two books that have influenced Amanda are Radical Acceptance by Tara Brach & The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown. Both have encouraged her to let go of perfectionism, make room for uncertainty, & trust herself even when she doesn't have all the answers. Those lessons have been especially meaningful as a business owner. Her advice to other women? Give yourself permission to be a beginner. Self-doubt & mistakes are part of the process, not signs that you're on the wrong path. Amanda also makes her own well-being a priority through daily movement, yoga, quiet moments with a cup of tea, & time with family and friends.

🌟 A Doylestown native, Amanda feels deeply connected to the community where she grew up & is now raising her own children. She loves the way Bucks County residents show up for one another & hopes Near Counseling & Wellness can be part of that same spirit of support. Her goal is to make mental & emotional health care feel less intimidating, reminding people they don't have to reach a breaking point to deserve support. Near offers a range of approaches, including traditional talk therapy, experience-based practices, yoga therapy, & mindfulness. Amanda is also building a network of trusted providers & community resources, because finding the right support matters more than where someone receives it. Above all, she wants people to feel comfortable showing up as they are & know they don't have to navigate life's challenges alone.

🌟 While Maureen Zimmerman has called London, Paris & the American South home, Bucks County is her favorite place of all. Originally from the area, Maureen built a fast-paced corporate career, holding leadership roles at Saks Fifth Avenue & QVC before becoming CEO of an advertising agency. 🌟 In a world that’s increasingly digital, Heather Jo Goroschko is building a business around the simple pleasure of putting pen to paper. A lifelong stationery lover, she spent years in a supply chain career before launching a handmade stationery & gift business on the side. With encouragement from her husband, that creative venture grew into Bucks Bespokery, her full-time business dedicated to fine pens, beautiful stationery, & the people who love them. After taking a leap into a larger retail space, Heather Jo eventually landed in her dream location: Peddler’s Village. Now, she’s creating a place where people can slow down, explore their creativity, & connect over a shared love of analog experiences.

🌟 One of the biggest surprises for Heather Jo has been the generosity of the pen & stationery world. Before her first store opened, the owner of the largest pen shop in the Southeast reached out to offer advice & support. That kindness grew into a friendship, & when Bucks Bespokery opened at Peddler’s Village, the shop owners flew north to celebrate & help customers over opening weekend. 🌟 Heather Jo’s advice to aspiring entrepreneurs? Just do it. Don’t wait until everything is perfect. 🌟 For Jackie Chapman, gardening has always been about more than plants. Inspired by her mother & grandmother, she grew up with a love of nurturing things & creating beauty from the ground up. When she became a mother, gardening became a way to feed her own soul while encouraging her daughter’s love of nature. In 2011, Jackie & her husband, Daniel, turned their shared love of gardening & combined landscaping & property expertise into The Garden Girl Company. Today, their fine-gardening business serves homeowners & select commercial properties throughout the Delaware Valley, with a focus on thoughtful garden design, meticulous maintenance, & seasonal displays.

🌟 In 2025, Jackie & Daniel opened a storefront on West State Street in the heart of Doylestown Borough, offering garden lovers an in-person experience to discover a new favorite houseplant or find the perfect gift. They also host seasonal workshops in their private studio, where guests can create something beautiful for their homes & leave with a greater understanding of gardening. The store gives Jackie a way to connect with gardeners of all experience levels & show them how easy it can be to bring a little life into their homes.

🌟 Building a business has taught Jackie plenty about resilience, & she hopes to pass those lessons on to her daughters. She & Daniel want them to grow up tenacious, willing to work hard & persevere, with a love for nurturing things & seeing them through.
