As Detroit observes Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Spirit of Detroit is illuminated in purple. The display reflects Mayor Mary Sheffield and the City’s commitment to supporting people impacted by domestic violence.

The Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood and Community Safety (MONCS) works in partnership with the Detroit Police Department, City departments and community organizations to serve as a resource for residents impacted by domestic and intimate partner violence.

If you or someone you know needs support or resources, the Detroit Police Department’s Victim Assistance Program is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It serves individuals, families and communities affected by sexual assault, domestic violence or homicide. Call 313-833-1660.
