CREW Iowa

CREW Iowa is dedicated to advancing and empowering all women in commercial real estate.

In 2011, a small group of five women real estate professionals from the Des Moines metro area began to discuss the possibility of forming a formal CREW Network chapter in Iowa. Their belief was that creating a local chapter of the CREW Network would provide real estate women in Iowa a tremendous opportunity for networking, professional growth and education, leadership opportunities, and could potentially even offer scholarship or charitable opportunities.

A special thank you to our moderator, Megan Holland, and our panelists, Ashley Shafer, Ashlee Vieregger, and Rebecca Miller, for sharing your knowledge and expertise on with our CREW Iowa community👏

Earlier this month, CREW Iowa’s DE&I Committee enjoyed a tour of Wild Rose Park, learning about the thoughtful design behind its safe, inclusive, and accessible playground. From important safety features to sensory-friendly elements, we loved learning how the space creates engaging play experiences for children of all abilities 🛝🌳

A huge thank you to Eric Doll with the City of West Des Moines and Nathan Gruver with Crouch Recreation for showing us around Wild Rose Park and sharing insights about the playground, Kompan equipment, and DuraPlay Inc. Surfacing!

Wednesday Wisdom: Networking Tips ✨

We know networking can sometimes feel overwhelming or intimidating, especially when you're entering a room full of new faces. Our goal is to make it feel a little less daunting and a lot more approachable, one tip at a time! The goal of our Wednesday Wisdom is to share quick networking tips to help you build stronger connections and make the most of every opportunity.

This month's tip is: Prepare Before You Network.

A successful networking event starts before you walk through the door. Take a few minutes to:

✨ Know who may be attending
✨ Set a goal for the event
✨ Prepare a few conversation starters
✨ Be ready to clearly introduce yourself and what you do
✨ Most importantly—show up ready to make genuine connections

Networking isn’t about talking to everyone in the room. It’s about creating meaningful relationships that can grow long after the event ends.
