Nearly a century ago, M.T. Cole dug a 13-acre lake here with mule-drawn equipment. It still holds water.
The lake stays. So does significant native prairie, creek corridors and wooded stretches UNT has been studying since before the first plans were drawn. More than 1,200 acres stay open, with 26 miles of trails.
For ninety years, this was a place people came to. The plan keeps it that way.
