Downtown Delray, plan around the water this weekend. 🌊
NWS Miami says the peak king tide of the season arrives Sunday into Monday, right when onshore winds and heavy rain are expected to be strongest. This morning's forecast: major coastal flooding is possible late this weekend into early next week, with gusts over 35 mph Sunday through Monday. A coastal flood advisory is already in effect for coastal Palm Beach County through 8 PM Saturday.
If you're heading downtown or to the beach Sunday or Monday, give yourself extra time, and don't drive around barricades or through water you can't see the bottom of.
A few things worth doing before Sunday:
• Never drive through saltwater flooding. It's hard on your car and you can't see what's under the water.
• If your street floods, move cars to higher ground ahead of high tide.
• Clear your gutters and the storm drain in front of your house.
• Secure patio furniture, planters and anything that can blow around.
• Photograph your home and property now, and again afterward. It makes any insurance claim a lot easier.
