Behind every affordable housing deal is someone tracking a thousand details so a family ends up with a home.
This Labor Day, we're launching Meet the Team, a series highlighting the people whose expertise and commitment turn Mosaic's purpose into action. First up: Jon Thompson, Development Manager.
Jon brings nearly a decade of development experience across both nonprofit and for-profit developers. At Mosaic, he moves complex affordable housing deals from concept to completion — with discipline, persistence, and a sharp eye for the details that make projects work.
He's been a driving force behind Renaissance Commons, a 9% rehabilitation preserving homes for low-income seniors in Elizabeth City, and South Briggs, a 124-unit 4% bond development in Durham with Banc of America CDC and Durham Tech Properties. These are complicated deals with a lot of moving parts, and Jon has the track record to match — more than $60 million in LIHTC awards secured and developments valued at more than $163 million.
Away from the deals, you'll find Jon in Charlotte's parks, out for a run, or on the lake with his wife, Ana.
Thank you, Jon, for the leadership and attention to detail you bring to every deal and partnership. Your work helps create and preserve quality affordable homes in the communities we serve. đź’›
Join us in congratulating Jon — and follow along as we introduce the rest of the team.

Back to school, made easier! 🎒📚
Evoke Living at Sugar Creek celebrated the new school year with our resident families — free school supplies, books, and snacks to help kids start the year strong. Add a bouncy house and activities for the whole family, and it was a day full of smiles and community. 🎉

Huge thanks to our partner Apartment Life for sponsoring and putting together this event for our residents!

That's what home should feel like. đź’™

Mosaic is excited to announce that we have received an award of 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, paving the way for the preservation of 82 units of affordable rental housing across Charlotte and Mooresville. 🏡

Cherry Gardens (Charlotte, NC) — 42 units preserved. Situated in one of Charlotte's historically Black neighborhoods, Cherry Gardens plays an important role in helping long-time residents stay in the community they've called home, even as rising costs and rapid growth have reshaped the city around them.

Curlin Commons (Mooresville, NC) — 40 units preserved. A special thank you to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte for your support in making this project possible!
Made possible with funding from NCHFA, these awards are a great example of what strategic public investment can accomplish. đź’°
