Relocating to DFW is a huge move, and the mistakes that hurt the most usually happen before you ever get the keys. Dallas Fort Worth is massive, and every suburb has its own feel, traffic patterns, schools and price points, so what looks great online can feel totally different once you’re here. The builder’s sales team works for the builder, and timing your move around a new build takes real planning. I help families moving to DFW find the right area first, then the right home, so the move works for the whole family. Planning a move to Dallas? Let’s talk.

Waiting for DFW home prices to crash before you make a move? Here's what the data actually shows. When rates jumped, the market didn't collapse. It slowed down. Buyers got priced out, sales fell, and homeowners sitting on low rates simply stayed put instead of dumping their homes. That's why prices only softened instead of crashing. Even the rise in foreclosures you're hearing about is coming off record lows, not signaling a wave of distressed sales. The correction people keep waiting for already happened, and it was mild. If you're buying, today's market gives you something the frenzy years never did: more homes to choose from, more room to negotiate, and sellers who are willing to work with you. Waiting for a bigger drop could mean paying more later when buyers come back. If you're selling, pricing right from day one matters more than ever, and my channel reaches buyers nationwide who are actively planning a move to DFW, putting your home in front of a much bigger audience than local marketing alone. Let's talk about what the numbers look like for your situation.

DFW buyers have more choices right now than they’ve had in years. After the 2021 and 2022 frenzy, when there was almost nothing to buy, inventory across Dallas-Fort Worth climbed every year and is now sitting near 30,000 homes for sale. This September was the first time in years it ticked down, which tells me the market is settling, not crashing. For buyers, that means room to negotiate, time to make a smart decision, and builders competing for your business. For sellers, it means pricing and presentation matter more than ever. If you’re thinking about relocating to Dallas or making a move in DFW, let’s talk about what this market means for you.

Before you sign with a builder in DFW, you need to know exactly what you’re committing to. Every builder runs on their own timeline, and city plan approvals can add weeks before a shovel ever hits the dirt. If you’re relocating and still own a home, how the builder handles that sale can make or break your move. And once you sign, changes and earnest money come down to the contract, not what the sales office tells you. I help my buyers get clear answers up front so the build goes smoothly from contract to closing. Relocating to DFW and looking at new construction? Let’s talk.

Texas Monthly is the most credible source on Texas BBQ, and DFW brought the heat: 2 joints in the Top 10 and 10 joints on the Top 50. 🔥

For years the best BBQ in Texas meant driving south to Austin and Lockhart. Not anymore. DFW is shaping up to be a serious BBQ destination.

Goldee's, Fort Worth: No. 3 in Texas
Dayne's, Aledo: No. 7 in Texas

Also on the 2025 Top 50 (unranked):
Smoak Town BBQ, Fate
Cattleack, Farmers Branch
Slow Bone, Dallas
Smokey Joe's, Dallas
Panther City, Fort Worth
Sabar, Fort Worth
North Texas Smoke, Decatur
Yearby's, Pilot Point

Texas Monthly only releases this list every 4 years, so the next one is in 2029.

Thinking about moving to Dallas but worried about job security? Healthcare is still one of the safest bets in the metroplex, and the big hospital systems here are hiring. 🏥

The healthcare layoffs you’ve seen in the news in 2026 have mostly hit the insurance and admin side. Baylor Scott & White’s health plan is cutting 321 jobs as it exits Medicaid and marketplace coverage, but its hospitals and clinics keep hiring. The jobs taking care of patients are the ones in demand.

DFW keeps growing, our population is getting older, and new hospitals and clinics keep opening across the suburbs. That means steady demand for nurses, techs, therapists, medical assistants, and the managers and data people who keep these systems running. And with no state income tax in Texas, that paycheck goes further here.

If a healthcare job is part of your move, where you live matters. Those long shifts are a lot easier when your commute is short, and I can help you find the right area near the hospital you’re working at.

Nextdoor ranks the friendliest neighborhoods in every city based on real neighbor activity, not surveys: the tone of neighbor posts, whether requests for help get answered, free items shared, how new neighbors get welcomed, and support for local businesses.

Dallas: South Winnetka Heights, a historic Oak Cliff enclave.
Fort Worth: Handley, a historic neighborhood home to Handley Park.
Frisco: Frisco Lakes, an active adult golf community.
Plano: Parker Road Estates, where 96% of residents own their homes.
Rockwall: Stone Creek Estates, known for a community where neighbors look out for each other.

Listed alphabetically. Each neighborhood is #1 within its own city.

PICK YOUR WINTER BEFORE YOU PICK YOUR HOUSE
Average Snowfall Per Year

SOUTH DFW: Under 1 inch
NORTH DFW: Up to nearly 2 inches

Snowfall nearly triples from the south end of DFW to the north end.

But here’s the truth: snow isn’t the DFW problem. ICE is.
Freezing rain hits a couple times a year and shuts down roads faster than any snowfall.

Where you buy changes your winters. I’ll help you pick the right side of the map.

🧊 Worried about hail when buying in DFW? Smart question. Hail is the most common severe weather in North Texas, and it's a big factor in insurance costs and roof replacements.

Rockwall and Heath come out on top with the fewest hail reports in the DFW area. Combine that with lake living, top-rated schools, and some of the best new construction and luxury homes in the Metroplex, and it's no surprise the east side keeps winning.

That said, even number 1 Rockwall had a hail event this year that left some cars with damage. No matter where you live, garage your cars in the spring. That's our hail season in the DFW Metroplex.

No place in Texas is perfect. Every area gets storms, so when you buy, look at roof age, roof type, and your insurance deductible. Impact-resistant shingles can even lower your premium. I walk every client through this before they write an offer.

Thinking about moving to DFW? Let's find you the right home in the right spot.
