Thinking about building a semi-custom home in Heath? Here’s what I’d want you to know before you ever walk into the model home..↓
There will be weeks where it feels like your house changes overnight + other weeks where you wonder if anything happened at all. Permits, inspections, weather, trades + materials can all affect the timeline.
And if you’re planning your move from another state, that timeline matters A LOT.
Your estimated completion date is exactly that..an estimate.
I would never want you scheduling movers, ending a lease or selling your current home based around one exact closing date months in advance. Give yourself some breathing room + have a plan for what happens if your home needs a few extra weeks.
Semi-custom is also different from fully custom.
You’re typically starting with one of the builder’s floor plans + choosing from the structural options, finishes + upgrades they offer. Some builders give you quite a bit of flexibility while others are much more limited.
And those upgrades can add up FAST. 😉
Before spending your budget on all the pretty things, think about what would be difficult to change once the house is finished. Additional garage space, electrical, cabinetry, plumbing locations + structural changes are things I’d be paying attention to early in the process.
And just because you’re building from another state doesn’t mean you should have to fly to Texas every time something comes up.
That’s where having someone local truly matters.
Builder meetings, progress checks, inspections, design appointments + final walkthroughs..while you’re still living your everyday life hundreds of miles away.
There’s a lot of moving pieces, but with the right plan, it doesn’t have to feel that way.
Comment BUILD and I’ll send you more information about building + relocating to Heath, Texas. ✨
As always, my DMs are open for anything Heath, Rockwall + relocating to this side of DFW. 🤍
