Drones are doing some heavy lifting on our job sites these days. By scanning large tracts of land from the air with specialized sensors, our surveyors can map hills, ravines, and tree lines with incredible speed. It gets accurate information to our engineers faster than ever.

How many trees do you really have to plant to meet city code? Every city has different rules for landscaping, parking lot buffers, and green space. Our design team helps property owners navigate those rules smoothly so approvals move through city hall without painful delays.

Have you ever attended a local city council or planning commission meeting? If so, you know the fewer of these needed, the better!

Why do some shopping centers feel relaxing while others feel stressful? It often comes down to the trees, the walkways, and how separate you feel from rushing cars. Thoughtful outdoor spaces give people a place to pause, sit down, and enjoy being outside.

What is your go-to spot for enjoying an outdoor coffee or lunch on a nice day?

Soil is never just dirt. Take a handful of earth from two spots a quarter-mile apart and you might find completely different stories. Some soil holds water like a sponge; other soil washes away at the first rain. Our testing lab figures out what is down there so builders know what to expect.

Any gardeners here? How would you describe the soil in your backyard?

Plants that actually belong here tend to survive here. Strange how that works. Mid-Missouri weather can throw thirty-degree shifts and humid summer heatwaves at us in the same week.

When you're planning the landscape for a new build, or refreshing an old one, using hardy native grasses and trees means landscaping that stays healthy without needing someone to water it every twenty minutes.

What is the hardiest plant in your home garden that just refuses to quit?

Designing a neighborhood park is about a lot more than picking out swings. You have to think about where parents can sit in the shade, how toddlers navigate steps safely, where bikes can park, and how maintenance trucks reach the lawn without tearing up the turf. True planning puts human habits first.

What is your family's favorite park amenity: shade trees, open grass, or paved trails?

Having five different companies work on one site plan is a great way to give everyone a headache. That is why we keep land surveying, civil design, soil testing, and landscape architecture together under one roof. When our designers need a measurement verified, they walk down the hall and talk to the person who set the pin.

Have you ever managed a home renovation with too many contractors? Tell us your war stories below.

Where does all that rainwater actually go when it hits a parking lot? If a civil engineer did their job well, you never have to think about it. Water quietly flows into bioswales, rain gardens, and retention basins designed to keep streets safe and local streams clean. It is practical design working quietly in the background.

What is one thing you notice about drainage in your neighborhood during a heavy storm?

Finding a hundred-year-old stone in the woods is part of a normal Tuesday for us. Before any shovel hits dirt on a new building or road, our surveyors are out mapping every elevation change, boundary marker, and utility hookup. Getting the measurements right at the start protects everyone down the line from property line disputes.

Ever had to hunt for your own property pins? Let us know how that went in the comments.

Ever wonder why some public spaces just feel good to walk through? It is not an accident. Thoughtful landscape architecture blends shade, sightlines, and walking flow with invisible stormwater management. When done right, you never notice the engineering keeping your feet dry after a downpour.

Tell us about your favorite park in town. What makes you want to stay there?
