in loving memory of johnnie griffin ❤️🐈⬛
this morning we said goodbye to a very special member of the rock island family, our office cat, johnnie, after a fast-moving and aggressive battle with cancer.
johnnie’s name has always carried a little extra meaning around here. he was named after our founder lisa meeks’ grandfather, johnnie griffin, who worked as a machinist for more than 50 years on the rock island railroad. our company’s name and story honor his legacy of craftsmanship, durability, and pride in one’s work.
our johnnie may have been much smaller, but he became a part of that story in his own way. a familiar face around the office, a companion during the workday, and a very loved member of our team.
we’ll miss his presence around the office more than we can say. there will always be a place for johnnie at rock island. 🤍
