Moving to North Carolina? Here’s a law you might not know about.

You have 60 days to get your North Carolina driver’s license after establishing permanent residency if you plan to drive here.

But here’s where many newcomers get caught off guard.

North Carolina requires proof of liability insurance from a company licensed to operate in the state when applying for a standard driver’s license. Yes, even if you don’t own a vehicle, insurance requirements may still apply.

And if you’re relocating from another country, don’t automatically assume your current license means you can skip the testing process.

Depending on your circumstances, you may need to complete:
• A written knowledge test
• A traffic sign recognition test
• A vision test
• A driving skills test
If you’re moving from another U.S. state with a valid license, certain tests may be waived.

My advice? Start preparing before your move, not after.
Relocating involves so much more than finding the right home. Understanding the local laws, requirements and little details that come with starting over somewhere new can save you time, money and unnecessary frustration.

That’s why I believe helping my clients relocate means helping them feel prepared for everything that comes after getting the keys.

El hogar se siente en muchas cosas…

I might be a little biased, but this will forever be one of my favorite views.

The Palisades has these beautiful little pockets where you can look out and take in Lake Wylie and, for a second, everything just feels quiet.

That’s what I love about this area. You can have the community, amenities and access to Charlotte, but still find these little pockets of peace that make you forget how close you are to everything.

Sometimes when clients ask me what it actually feels like to live here, I think this view explains it better than I ever could.
