Generator and electrical crews: a unit starting during a routine exercise doesn’t tell the whole story. It still needs to carry the loads the site depends on and transfer power correctly.

On a pre-winter service visit, what’s first on your checklist: load acceptance, ATS transfer, fuel system, batteries—or something else?

Drop the check you never skip. 👇

Snow crews: before the first push, where’s the snow going?

Marking staging zones ahead of time helps keep piles out of accessible parking, drive exits, walkways, and critical access areas. Walk the site with the property team, mark the plan, and make sure every driver knows the layout.

When you’re working a new property, how do you choose the pile locations: a site plan, a walkthrough, or both? Share your field tip. 👇

Contractors: when a building struggles to hold heat, where do you look first?

Roof insulation? Wall joints and penetrations? Air leaks around doors and openings?

A pre-winter envelope review can help surface issues that affect comfort and heating demand before colder weather brings more complaints.

What signs tell you the envelope needs attention? Which details get overlooked most often? Share what you’re seeing in the field. 👇

Carpet and janitorial contractors: when do you recommend scheduling pre-winter carpet extraction?

A deep clean before slush and road salt arrive can help remove embedded summer soil and give facilities a cleaner start to the season.

Do you recommend extracting before the first snowfall, or after the first storm? Share what works in the field. 👇

Dark comes earlier after the clocks change. A quick evening check can catch exterior lights that fail when your site needs them most.

Before Nov. 1, check:
đź’ˇ Time clocks and BAS schedules
🌇 Photocells for dirt or blocked views
🚶 Parking lots, entrances, walkways, and loading docks after dark

Keep emergency-light checks on their regular inspection schedule, too.

What’s the most common lighting issue on your sites:
A) timers
B) photocells
C) dead fixtures?

Rodents don’t need much of an invitation. A mouse can fit through an opening about 1/4 inch wide.

Before the cold sets in, take a quick lap around the building and check:

🔍 Foundation and utility penetrations
🚪 Door sweeps and dock seals
🌿 Dense vegetation and roofline access
🗑️ Dumpster lids, pads, and nearby storage

Use rodent-resistant materials suited to the opening, and keep the perimeter clear.

Contractors and facility teams: where do you find the most entry gaps?

A) Dock doors
B) Utility penetrations
C) Roof edges and eaves
D) Refuse or storage areas

Heat trace is easy to forget—until the first freeze puts it back on the call list.

Before startup, check the basics:

🔧 Cable condition and mounting along eaves, gutters, and downspouts
⚡ Continuity and insulation resistance, following manufacturer procedures
🌡️ Sensor and controller operation
📊 Current draw compared with the system rating

Contractors: what do you check first at startup? And what heat-trace issue has caused callbacks on your jobs? Share it below.

Snow crews: the first storm is a tough time to find out nobody agreed on the trigger depth. ❄️🚜

Before the early-morning dispatch calls start, make sure your crew and the facility team are working from the same plan.

📍 Know your priority zones.
Confirm plow areas, sidewalks, entrances, loading docks, and emergency access routes—including where snow can be piled.

⏱️ Know when to roll.
Double-check accumulation triggers, response expectations, and return visits. Clarify who makes the call for ice or freezing rain when there’s little snow on the ground.

📞 Know who to call.
Have a clear contact for blocked access, parked vehicles, scope questions, and changing conditions.

📸 Keep clear service records.
Document arrival and departure times, areas serviced, treatments applied, and anything that needs follow-up.

What’s the biggest headache on your commercial snow routes?

A) Cars parked in the way
B) Unclear dispatch triggers
C) Nowhere to pile snow
D) Last-minute scope changes

That hose left connected all winter? It could turn into a callback nobody wants. ❄️🔧

Plumbers and maintenance crews—now’s the time to catch freeze risks before the cold catches them for you.

On your next site visit:

đź’§ Disconnect hoses. Check exterior fixtures for trapped-water risks.
🔧 Check freeze protection. Look for damaged insulation and exposed lines in unheated spaces.
👀 Inspect fixtures and valves. Don’t skip frost-free hose bibbs or backflow assemblies.
📸 Document the issues. Clear photos and location notes help get repairs moving before temperatures drop.

Winterize each assembly according to its design and manufacturer’s instructions.

What’s the one winter plumbing issue you see every year?

A) Hoses still connected
B) Missing insulation
C) Leaking fixtures
D) Something else—tell us below 👇

It lights up when you hit the test button. But will it stay on? 💡🔧

Electricians and maintenance crews—you’ve seen it: an exit sign looks fine until you put the battery through a full test.

A quick button check confirms activation. A full **90-minute test** checks whether the backup power can go the distance.

On your next emergency lighting inspection:

🔋 Check the batteries: Look for age, swelling, leaks, and signs they’re due for replacement.
🔧 Inspect the fixtures: Check housings, connections, LEDs, and lamp heads.
⏱️ Run the full test: Follow the testing requirements that apply to the facility.
đź“‹ Record what you find: Log fixture locations, results, deficiencies, and corrective actions. Clear photos help keep everyone on the same page.

That “small” maintenance item has a big job when the power drops.
