Before it was Dueler's Alley, this Charleston lane was Cow Alley.

Philadelphia Alley runs between Queen and Cumberland Streets in the French Quarter. It likely started as a path for livestock before Francis Kinloch widened it into Kinloch's Court.

South Carolina is proposing new dock rules that could limit where docks are built, cap their size based on creek width, and change how boat lifts are counted. Under the proposal, new docks would not be allowed on creeks under 21 feet wide.

After homeowners and dock builders spoke up at Tuesday’s meeting in North Charleston, state officials are now considering canceling the October 27 hearing to allow more public input.

Good to know: these are proposals only, and existing permitted or grandfathered docks are not automatically affected.
